Who we are
Devon Breathers was formed by people who had completed a pulmonary rehabilitation course and found the benefits to be life changing, improving their quality of life.
The organisation was formed to not only help people help themselves but also to help fellow sufferers from breathing difficulties such as COPD, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Asthma and other respiratory issues.
Our aim
Exercise together, support each other and enjoy the commradery.
We all suffer from breathing problems and long term health conditions for which there is no cure but through support from our hospitals and live-well health care professionals we aim to reduce repeat visits to hospitals taking up valuable bed space.
As a group we want to self help one another with ideas and tips on what works for each of us.
What do we do?
With help from sponsorships and grants, we have invested in a range of exercise equipment that can be used each week by our members with support from NHS members alongside organised activities each week aimed at improving fitness. Q&A sessions from hospital specialists are available.
Doing exercises with other sufferers is much easier than excersising on your own and the benefits can be enormous.
That’s not all! We also give presentations to medical students at both Exeter University and Plymouth University on how we live with these health conditions and how they can help us when treatment is required to assist us.
